NEC Electronics America and Synplicity to Co-Host Seminar on Structured ASICs and Amplify ISSP Software

Attendees Invited to Learn the Latest on Structured ASIC Hardware/Software and Attend Free Twins Game at the Metrodome

SANTA CLARA, Calif. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Electronics America, Inc., a leading provider of differentiated semiconductor solutions, and Synplicity Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced they will co-host a seminar in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 16 to provide insight into structured ASICs, a rapidly growing alternative to cell-based ASICs and FPGAs for designers working with low- to mid-volume applications. The seminar, titled "Hit a Homerun with ISSP Structured ASICs: Your Turnaround Time Advantage from 150 to 90nm," will feature NEC Electronics' structured ASIC architecture, Instant Silicon Solution Platform(TM) (ISSP(TM)), and Synplicity's customized Amplify(R) ISSP tool. The two companies will demonstrate how the ISSP architecture combined with an ISSP-customized synthesis tool such as Amplify ISSP enables designers to reduce design risk, nonrecurring engineering (NRE) costs and time to market. Also participating in the seminar will be Minneapolis-based North Pole Engineering (NPE). NPE will present the overall ISSP design flow, demonstrating how the company's expertise in front-end design for ASICs helps to enable quicker tape-outs by providing a smoother hand-off to back-end design companies.

The seminar will be followed by a question and answer (Q&A) session and a ballpark-style dinner reception with live demonstrations of the Amplify ISSP software. Attendees are also invited to join sponsors NEC Electronics America, Synplicity, North Pole Engineering and Matrix Marketing Group in Diamond View seats at the Minnesota Twins/Chicago White Sox game immediately following the reception.
